As excited as we are, some of us at Science Channel needed a bit of a refresher on all-things Mercury so we dug up this great clip from Space School. Enjoy!

The thing I always have loved about space school is the fact that they always propose a question at the beginning to "Hook in" the listeners. If the creators of space school happen to see this, I believe you guys are doing great with it and you should most definitely keep going!

I feel bad for Mercury. Every other planet gets to have a significant atmosphere, but Mercury's just a lonely rock. No moon, no atmosohere, no life. Nobody wants to go there because is too difficult and nothing's there.

I remember reading a sci-fi novel with an interesting concept on a Mercury-like planet. There were train tracks that wrapped the planet at the equator, and a huge city that rode the tracks in the temperature sweet spot at the sunrise. The city was propelled on the tracks by the expansion/contraction as the land heated up from the sunrise. Alistar Reynolds perhaps?
