Tchaikovsky - Neapolitan Song | Children's Album, Op. 39

The Children's Album, Op. 39, subtitled "24 simple pieces à la Schumann", is a cycle of 24 piano pieces composed between May and July 1878. In a letter to Nadezhda von Meck, the composer wrote: "A while ago I thought that it would not be a bad idea to make a small contribution to the stock of children's musical literature, which is very modest. I want to create a series of little individual pieces just for children, and with an attractive title, like Schumann's"

Once, as a girl, at a music school, I played this piece at a concert. Then for the first time the audience shouted "encore!" for me. I will remember that feeling for the rest of my life. I was stunned at that moment, because. it seemed to me that I played this piece normally enough. And then, after a second performance of this piece, I went backstage, where my piano teacher was standing. The teacher praises me like he never praised me. And she said that was my best performance. I remember my feelings during the performance of this piece. It was as if I had become a different person, who was picked up by some higher powers and carried somewhere far away, with great inspiration.
