No! No! A Thousand Times No!!--Harry Reser's Orch., 1934

"A melodrama in song," co-written by Abner ("Which Hazel") Silver and recorded 11/1/1934 by Harry Reser's band, with a vocal by Tom Stacks, who also provided drums and sound effects for Harry. Very much in the "Little Nell" tradition, if not quite as elaborate. Much that had been popular on the stage, in silent flicks, and from Tin Pan Alley between the turn of the century and the 1910s had come to be regarded as ripe for broad parody by the 1930s. And yet here we are in the 2020s, with the Beatles still practically current nearly 60 years later. Conclusion: Popular culture ages more slowly in our time.
