The truth is that tdx had all the potential, in my case I started playing it and got addicted quickly, although then I started to get bored after beating the expert mode, maybe the game will improve with the nightmare mode update

As a warship owner in TDX, I agree with most of your points, especially in 4:59, just like every TD game, the community finds a way to earn the most of the game's currency (like TDS coins/gems and TDX gold), and when the strategy gets released, a majority of the people uses it, just to after earning the most of the currency they've expected, never touch the game again, except for an update that introduces a new tower, grind using the same strat, buy the tower and then quit.

Also for TDX monetization, that is true, VIP is really useless if you have bought every tower unless it's for the XP boost, the 50% game only works for XP/gold grinding, after that, it becomes really useless. This is an example of HOW a TD game shouldn't be monetized, adding the most basic features for a big amount of Robux, like, 10 (approx) DOLLARS FOR A BASIC FEATURE OF 50% SPEED? WTH DUDE, I've seen TD games like Touhou Tower assault that give you the same feature BUT FREE! at least make it either cheap or free!

To finish, at 6:25, I (again) agree with you, the basic crate is a waste of money since the chances of getting a skin that isn't a recolor (or a dupe) are really rare, 73% common, 20% uncommon, 5% epic and 2% legendary. They should add another skin crate made for high-quality skins IMO, they should cost more than 1500 but less than 4000 to make it balanced, just like TDS has the premium and deluxe crates, they give high-quality skins, but for a balanced price.

I think a part of it was the devs tried so hard to make "unique" mechanics they didn't stop to think about why those mechanics should be added

So far: I just think It's because of weird decisions by TDX like adding skin gambling, TDS cooking way more currently, and TDX feeling like It's too overhyped for what It Is.

I think it's unfair to say it has failed when its last shot hasn't been fired yet. Nightmare mode is indeed coming, and with it, a shake up of the core gameplay mechanics. Plus, TDX isn't an old game as stated in the video. It's new. Imagine judging TDS' success based on how it was doing during the Area 51 event.
That doesn't make me optimistic for TDX, though. We can only hope Nightmare Mode will be as promising as we want it to be.

Originally, admins of the TDX discord server and even John himself I believe said that there wouldn't be any crates and that you would be able to buy all of the skins in a shop, so you would actually be able to choose and buy what you wanted. So, a lot of people were expecting this when the skin update happened. And then when it did come out, so many players were disappointed and mad. The discord was thrown into chaos and all John did was just say "I lied", not offering any apology (which I do think they should've done for lying and hyping the update up so much). I'm sure that that update took away a chunk of TDX's player base too.

Even though tdx is in a “beta”, it is still opened to criticism and that is what every game should have when it is playable. Problems with TDX easily be many, but I’ll only talk about a few that I believe are the major ones.

1. John’s leadership.

John is just a hypocrite when it comes to directing TDX. We’ve seen a lot of false promises (added a skin gambling despite John saying he won’t, adding golden towers despite John saying he didn’t like them, adding collab skins and locking them behind ROBUX despite John never mentioning it’s obtainment and giving promise that people can get it legitimately). Another major flaw with his leadership is that the game is just super overhyped. John would always showcase so much of the game that it becomes more lame than exciting, showing off a lot will just kill hype and make people unexciting. I believe that John is just trying to make as much money as possible with this game as he sees it as an opportunity. (Rewind having a robux option, AC130 is planned to have a robux option to spawn it, speed up costing robux, donations that go over 100k.) Another example of John being a hypocrite is how he treats his fanbase. Clearly he doesn’t have any remorse for what he has done with the game; for example, the skin gambling. His response was literally “I lied”, and refused to elaborate further. Another example is when someone was complaining about TDX’s grinding, the dude literally said “then don’t play the game?”, truly an innovative man who knows what he’s doing with a game.

2. Gameplay

TDX is barely unique, and that’s quite sad. Despite it being advertised as a “unique experience”, it just falls under any generic td game. Some of the mechanics it introduced already exist in other games, and is barely usable because only bosses would use it. (Towers dying exists in Critical TD and PvZ and in TDX only bosses can use them, 2 path exists in TBZ and BTD5 and has the same flaws as those games did by having paths that would be: dps or support, range blockade is super annoying but that was seen in BTD6.) So many aspects of TDX is also locked behind tons and tons of grinding, we all know how tedious the grinding is (I had to get a friend to help me grind as he has far more progress than me). Warship and Juggernaut are great examples of the grind being super tedious, as they’re super expensive and take a long time to get it (9 expert matches which is about 3+ hours long for juggernaut, and 35 matches for warship which can take TONS OF HOURS…)

3. Marketing

Marketing is basically how TDX gets advertised and makes money, and oh boy is there a lot of it. John has a huge advantage with his YouTube channel with over a million subscribers which can easily give him players. And his methods of monetization is really dumb and manipulative (skin gambling, speed modifier, and a vip gamepass that’s super useless once you’ve unlocked everything.) and I have mentioned the donations board. Now donation boards are not a bad thing, but what catches my eye is the fact that there are options that go above 100k which is just crazy man. And let’s not forget the fact that TDX was advertised to be “unique” when it really isn’t.

I wish TDX would get some improvements and truly be worth the enjoyment, right now it’s just super boring, super tedious, and super manipulative.

Tower Galactica is a good example on how to make a TD game unique. It uses the regular TD gameplay and puts a twist on it. Enemies chasing you to kill you, bosses becoming an RPG bossfight, enemies shooting multiple projectiles at you.

TDX is very unforgiving for new players, as coin grind strats are nerfed and the good towers need a lot of coins so you need to grind a lot, that’s what people dont lik about TDX

John is a massive hypocrite that's why. He complained about TDS having only a handful of useful towers, but TDX has the same issue as well. Laser gunner is the p2w meta, and once you have laser gunner, every other early game tower is useless mainly because they get hd so late. Grinding is a chore in TDX, even though John complained about grinding in TDS. There are so many more examples of John being a hypocrite too.

Speaking of the skin exchange system, if you get a legendary dupe, you can sell it for $1500, which is definitely not worth it considering how much money it takes to even get one legendary skin.

i lost motivation in tdx, mainly because of the mountain of hours of grinding, for comparison, back in 2020, when i was grinding tds for my 3rd account now (rip my 2 other ones), it took me around ~6 hours or so to get level 50, and get majority of the towers, while in tdx, i have spent 22 hours, to get level 40, and only the cheap towers

john should focus on adding his original spin with different constructions to base gameplay. Atm, the game straight up feels like a millitary themed stereotypical td game and should throw his creative mind in to enhance it. TDX has potential but we'll see if John can use it.
