Casuals forget that Tatum averaged 31ppg last year and had more total points scored than the "scoring champ" Embiid. He holds the record for most points in a Game 7 at 51. He scored 48 on Giannis in an elimination game to save their season, and scored 51 against Embiid in the same scenario. Swept KD and Kyrie, beaten the Heat when the Heat were the top seed. He has more points and wins than KD, Lebron and Curry in the playoffs since he came in 2017. He is trailing only Kobe by 70+ points to become the player to score most points in the playoffs under 26 y/o. He can score if he wants to.

But he decided to sacrifice his numbers and take on the dirty job of rebounding the ball, defending the Dallas centers to prevent the lobs, attracting the double and triple teams thrown at him, passing the ball at the right moment to an open teammate. He knows he has so many weapons around him that he doesn't have to score to win. Jaylen Brown looks so good because Tatum takes so much of the defensive pressure from the opposing teams and makes the right plays. The Boston 5-out offense is so lethal because Tatum pressures the opposing team to collapse on him or he will score an easy layup. These little things that don't show on the scoreboard are things that casuals don't see. I guess people today would love to see someone who shoots 30 shots, scores 30 points, gives out 1 assist and loses by 20 points. SMH

They hate Tatum because they were all wrong about him. Coming out of college, everyone was hyping Fultz and Lonzo Ball. Boston outsmarted everyone-- even trading down and STILL getting him. Tatum's success is an indictment on all NBA media

Jaylen Brown is fire to Jayson Tatum’s ice, their playstyles compliment each other so well on the court. I love how Jaylen Brown is getting the respect he deserves, but people are doing that while trying to diminish Tatum’s game, which is just flat out ridiculous
