I Must Come Clean About My Overcome Pelvic Pain Story

Back in 2017, I was doing so much better (and Dr. Bri’s videos were a helpful part of my journey), so we did an interview on her YouTube channel. I shared my honest experience to that point, which was how I went from the depths of close-to-suicide to feeling balanced and back living life. You can watch that original interview here:

One thing that I have not yet shared (as I was still learning about the depths and true root cause of mind-body conditions), is that after healing from CPPS, I then dealt with digestive challenges, food sensitivities (I was on the “fear of food diet”), and also chronic headache bouts here and there.

I have poured out my heart and soul into helping men to get better, as Dr. Bri and I (synchronistically) created a program together, called Overcome Pelvic Pain, which launched in March 2020. So many men have gotten better.

But something was bugging me, beneath the surface. Although, my pelvic floor issues got better…it was like the imbalance was just shifting to different physical manifestations. I learned much more about TMS/Mind Body Syndrome, and realized that these are all mind-body conditions, with no structural reasoning.

Thankfully I now no longer deal with chronic issues. Of course, as a human being I still experience some pain or tightness or GI tract things, but this is a reminder that I need to let go of something. It is a gift.

After arriving at this new level of understanding, I knew that I needed to update the Overcome program, and create the most direct path to clearing out the root cause, not just localized pelvic floor and urinary issues. I am so excited to introduce the new Overcome program, which is now available.

🧩Get all of the puzzle pieces in ONE PLACE with ALL NEW Overcome Pelvic + Urinary Issues program. This is a fully guided 12 week program that helps you address the root cause and return to balance and harmony, with no side effects, all at home.

Thank you Michael for sharing this information. I have long suffered with nocturia and then cpps came later but now everything has begun to get better by utilizing this shift towards MBS since you first mentioned it weeks ago. It really helps with every aspect of my life and although I'm not fully recovered; my healing has begun to show up in ways I didn't think would be suddenly possible

Hey Michael, thx for the Video!
I've deal with pelvic floor disfunction now for 1, 5 years.
I see a PT, I stretch every day and my issues are 50% better.
But not gone.
Now I go to a Psychologist...i know I've got problems with my emotions... my mindset is not good very often and I will work with a Doctor to create new.
I think it's a big part... The mindset is very important!. Thank you.

I came into your 2017 videos only recently knowing about mind-body syndrome and knowing this was the cause of my pelvic issues. I knew I needed to treat both the mind and the body, so was watching your videos for the physical part but I was thinking while watching them (I wish he'd address the mind part of it, not just the body part). Glad to see you later realized the connection. I already had arm and ear issues because of this before my pelvic issues but as soon as I got pelvic floor dysfunction I knew it was the mind causing it.

I was sitting a lot and not a lot of circulation was getting to that area, then one day I worried about an injury when it felt like I pulled a muscle down there, and that worrying, plus the weakness from sitting all the time, was all it took for the brain to jump and do what it's been conditioned to do. It's maladaptive neuroplasticity. The brain is changing itself in real-time to protect from either real injuries or perceived injuries, and it then makes changes in the spine as well.

Everything you said in this video is true, and people dealing with these types of issues often have a hard time humbling themseleves and accepting that their personalities and mindsets make them vulnerable to this and that part needs to change, even if the tightness and other issues it's caused also need to be worked out with physical rehab. The brain is the most important aspect of it.

This man knows exactly what he’s talking about. CPPS is TMS.

I completely agree and my journey is similar. I got hit hard by a UTI-like condition and then deep pelvic pain in April 2022. I spent the next 6 months focused on physical treatment with the mental side as secondary. I greatly improved but then had a massive set back when my father passed away quickly in December. Since this past February I have been focused on a TMS mind-body approach. I’m close to fully recovered now but have seen some symptom imperatives as you mentioned. I now see the physical side - stretching and PT - as soothing your nervous system not as a fix.

Anyways, thank you for your honesty and follow through. By the way, I dove deep into TMS mind-body books and podcasts and there are a ton of amazing resources. More than anyone could imagine.

That is the correct diagnosis. I’m currently reading and implementing the guidelines in the book “unlearn your pain” by Howard schubiner md. Based on MBS. I will be looking into your new program. I hope we all make a full recovery.

thank you so much Michael for all your videos! it helped me alot. deep inside I knew from the beginning that it was a body-mind syndrome and I've been working on all sides (mediation, yoga, sport, psychotherapy etc.) for a year now. I've been suffering from it for almost 2 years now but it's getting better Bit by bit better. thanks again for all your videos! greetings from Austria

Thanks for that. I commented 3 years ago on your (excellent) stretching video and on the "causes" video that for me its caused by stress/anxiety/depression and its root emotions etc. I wanted to say "IT'S MBS!" but felt that maybe too off-putting or sanctimonious :)

I've migrated between several different MBS "syndrome" type pain/symptoms - CPPS, hyperacusis, IBS, CFS. For me, getting at the root trauma is not so obvious or easy but I stay at it (lately using EMDR). "Outcome independence" is important I think as is self-care and self-compassion (cuz yeah, this can really suck).

I find meditation, journaling and even traditional CBT and "talk therapy" helps (especially watching my behaivor.in terms of what triggers/worsens symptoms), all important but obviously not a final "cure" in itself. One key factor for me is mood...if I fall into even mild depression, it makes healing slower, and likewise an uplift in mood or getting out of depression can at least get me 50-75% better. I've also learned to really savior the pain-free days and even moments, and to try to find happiness and joy in things even when there is a flare up. And best I can to keep doing what I would normally do, activity wise

We'll get there folks!

Hey Michael you think you can come out with a guide to get people started with TMS. I totally agree it is TMS but having a hard time getting started on what I should do to heal my mind

My cpps started after I beat tinnitus. :) And my shoulder has been tingling for months... With no real diagnosis.

During your recovery, with pelvic floor therapy, what medications did you take that helped? Neuro meds or muscle relaxants?

Hi michael!! I have watched all of your videos that helped me lot to cope up with this pelvic floor issue. But when i think 3 months back when i got frequent urination after gym i got very frustrated like why i am having this as all is normal began to google or chatgpt my symptoms and everytime lands on some new condition which made me more depressed and which lead to more symptoms inside my penis.

So basically i think i made my mind very stressed and anxious through these searches and now it had become more sensitive and percevies everyhting as a threat .

Now you refer *MIND BODY SYNDROME* is basically our mind and body connection like if we stress or feel anxious our symptoms excerbate .

So basically i want to ask can we do pelvic stretches along with accepting and acknowledging our symptoms like not to search on google etc. Just let our symptoms to be there and to make our mind believe that there is nothing serious that can cause this will help cure symptoms in penis ?

How do you let go of an emotion you can’t feel because of supression?

You don't know how much this means to me. it gives me hope, and I'm seeing multiple other coaches coming to this idea too. Now, it's just the implication of it as people like us have such deep seated emotions.

Respectfully, why are you selling courses about Premature ejaculation when you never had it? You had CPPS which is a different thing.

Amazing seeing this video. I had CPPS and came across a Youtube video from a PT in the UK who explained that the soft tissue of the Penis (which is responsible for erections, pain and turtling etc) is not linked to ANY of the muscles around the pelvis etc. So all the stretching, rolling, releasing isn't going to do anything for it. That soft tissue is controlled by the Autonomic Nervous System. I knew instantly it was a mind-body issue related to the pain neural pathways and that it could be re-wired with messages of safety to the nervous system (I suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in the past).
