Fun fact: In South Korea, the term 'gunner' and 'assistant gunner'(written as '사수', '부사수' in Korean) is also used to describe the members of civilian organizations - that being all matters of company, cooperation, post office, etc - With 'gunner' (that's '사수') being senior members of an organization who takes the role of mentoring any freshly joined members, while 'assistant gunner' (that's '부사수') being the new guys who gets to learn new things.

A military exclusive term used freely among civilian society is definitely an odd thing to witness. (Just imagine your colleague saying "We got a new guy joined in. The boss said I should be his gunner.") This possibly due to the mandatory military service system from South Korea where they draft away males when they become of age, making half of the nation's population to have service records.

Y'know what game would really benefit from these? Enlisted! It has ai squadmates that follow and help you but feel pretty useless most of the time from their dumb, being more attached to yoy and Joining you as a machine gunner assistant would be so neat.

I know it's meant to represent a crew but I like the implication that the mg42 is just so hungry for ammo you have to sprout a third arm to keep up on reloading it.

Thought this was gonna be another goofy as reload, but it's not. Take away the ding, and it's pretty damn accurate.

Cool animation. One thing though. As a machine gunner you are supposed to pull the bolt back to the rear before you open the top cover. This helps prevent against a cook off. A cook off is where the machine gun gets really hot after shooting for awhile, it can ignite the gun powder inside the cartridge and make the bullet go off
