Released six years ago, was recommended to me barely 2 years ago. This song and "Tragedy" live rent-free in my head and can pull me out of some emotionally tough shit every time. There's wisdom and agency in anger, we just have to bend it toward growth and discard what decays us.

Looking forward to the next album whenever it drops. Stay awesome.

Usually I just roll with the punches on bands and member changes because that’s the way it goes but I will make the exception and say that this era was fucking prime time for counterparts

Ten years ago, I had just started experiencing the aftereffects of a serious traffic accident I had caused the previous year. I was working as a system engineer at a municipal office in the suburbs of Osaka, regularly staying at work until around 11 p.m.

As I gradually felt the nerve pain from the aftereffects intensify, I found myself completely powerless to stop it. I kept listening to this album at full volume, trying to drown out the pain and ease my growing anxiety.

While battling the pain and working alone, their music was the only thing I could rely on emotionally.

In the end, the nerve pain became so severe that I had to leave the company. But if I hadn’t had their music by my side back then, I think I would have lost my mind much sooner.

Once again, I want to express my gratitude and deep respect for their music.

It's great to see a band that can manage to stay true to their roots, yet progress in new directions at the same time. With The Current Will Carry Us and The Difference Between Hell and Home behind them, I think this new album is going to make Counterparts really big this summer.
