Welcome back guys! Here’s a side by side comparison of the 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid, the 2025 Mazda CX-5, and briefly my Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. In this video we have take a look at the headlights, tail lights, and everything else in between so help show you what can be expected if interested in purchasing one of these vehicles and driving it at night!

FYI, my 2024 CX-5 has adaptive headlights in Canada. I don’t remember if it was an option or came with this trim but it has them and they work great. It also has the auto dimming of the brights which is nice as well. I agree, none of the reviewers talk about night driving and very few people test drive a new car in the dark. My CX-5 LED headlights are as good as any car I’ve seen. Keep up the good work!

Not sure why Mazda leaves the taillights on the hatch unlit, would look so much meaner it they had lighting in them. I realize the turbos do, but just feel they should all be, would cost very little to do and improve visibility from the rear.

You're right, we shouldn't buy a vehicle w/o LED's. As on aside, some drivers used to flash me to lower the lights on my Crosstrek until I became aware of how potent my headlights were. But as far as your comparison between the CX5 and CX50 going beyond the ights, the CX50 is a looker making its design appear sophisticated and classy, The CX50 outclassed the 5 to the point of possibly taking away buyers of it (the CX5). Really interesting review/comparison.

I love the fog lights on the 2017-2021 CX-5, really disappointed they are not on the newer models, especially the CX-50, aside from the actual fog light function, they add a good amount of extra light at night.

Although I'm now a Rav4 XSE hybrid owner, I like the body styling on the Mazda better.
Now that the CX-50 has been on the dealer lots for a while, I wonder if one can get a good deal
on the non-hybrid version?

Can you do a night comparison with a crv? Or check these in the night when it’s raining? Crv initially looks bright but is awful in the rain and night

Do u sometimes get a clunking noise if you tap the accelerator at low speeds or rpms? It does this on my 2025 cx5 select.

Some of these LED headlights are way too bright, though. When you're driving in the opposite direction, you can experience "white-outs", which can be scary and dangerous. They need to lower the lumens on some of these newer cars.

I test drove both and liked the cx5 6 speed a lot better. Cx5 was cheaper and more roomier second row too
