In this video I want to give basic ideas on how to get started with Age of empires 4 and a few ideas how to improve your game!

Start getting food as soon as game starts (Sheep)
Produce villagers. Always! Usually you do not stop producing villagers until you have at least 50% of the maximum Population (around 100). Sometimes you want to have more, but you almost never want to have less.
Use your scout to get as many sheeps as you can. Send at least 2 additional sheep early to your TC, so you have enough food for Age up.
Get a house with your 7-8th villager.
Depending on Civ and strategy, get some gold early. You need 400 food/ 200 gold for ageup. So you typically use your 8-11 villagers for coin (200 is enough). Get a solid Age timing in, so you can react what the enemy is doing or be aggressive yourself. Don’t need too many villagers on the Age up if you start aging early.
Decide on a strategy early. Go for age Aggression or an economic fast fortress. I do recommend going aggressive, it is way easier to play aggressive than playing defensive.
Some ideas: Use a Swordsman, Rider or Longbow/ Archer timing. For Longbows/archer you want to have enough to one shot villagers (9 Longbows). For Swordsman/Rider you need around 3-5 to do some damage. Avoid suiciding your units into the Town center (use Stand Ground if necessary). React on what the enemy is doing, that means get units which counter his units and get an army composition (Scouting riders? Get pikemen). Usually a basic army composition is always one “core unit” and another one unit to supplement this core unit. For example: Archers + Knights - Archer counter pikemen/monks and have good dps. Knights tank and do decent against other armored units and siege. So they supplement each others weaknesses. Another example would be Infantry + Siege.
Play for Map control, disrupt the enemy Economy, Stay aggressive on the map and react to what the enemy is doing. Try to get good engagements – Usually, a bigger Army wins against a smaller army, even if the smaller army slightly counters the bigger army.
Try to get a better economy than your enemy - Either by killing his economy or by getting more economy. Keep your Resources low by spending them as early as you can. This means getting army or investing into upgrades.
Use Hotkeys for your advantage

Basic Tips:
Always keep your Town center working (Produce Vills!) and Keep your villagers Working
Spend your resources as soon as you can and get army or economy
Get a basic Build Order/ Gameplan
Get an Army composition (1 Core + 1 Supplement)
Be active on map - Get good Engagements! Bigger Army better than Smaller Army
Get Used to hotkeys early!
