[SFM] Blind Visions

Where do I begin? This has been in the making for a while now, ever since the end of 2023. When I heard about a big project we were gonna have to make for school, I instantly thought of making an animation not knowing if I'll be able to finish it on time, and yet here we are with the finished result that I'm proud with. It was a bit stressful process when making this project, but I had a good plan and organization which was able to help me finish this on time and to a standard I was satisficed with. I made like 40 pages worth of pre-production notes before I began animating lol

This animation style was inspired by multiple animators and their animations, but it was mainly from MintyChip and their 'Pale Yellow' Remastered Animation. I wanted to try a different style for this animation because of how the story was structured (Story will be in the comments section).

I want to give a huge thanks to my family, friends and my media teacher. I wouldn't have been able to finish this project without your support and feedback. I hope you all enjoy this animation.

Story:
This is a story about loss, grief & acceptance. MC (Main Character) was in a terrible place after a traumatic past and it was only his GF (Girlfriend) that was able to get him out of his mind, to leave his past behind. But when he loses his GF to an unknown cause of death, which leads him to go back into the same state he was originally suspecting that her passing was not accidently. Starting the first stage of grief: Denial

Filled with grief of losing everything he’s ever loved, he hallucinates his long lost brother (who’s wearing a mask) who influences him to investigate the cause of his GF’s death. He’s now in stage 2: Anger. So he dives head first into his past to put the pieces together to see if his brother’s missing incident is connected to what happened to his GF. So he tries to think back into his past where locked memories are the only thing that is the key to solving the mystery. Going back through memories, he now switches to the stage of Bargaining.

He scours for clues and any detail that can identify the cause, which causes him to slowly go insane. But by going deeper into a forgotten memory, he unlocks more of the trauma he witnessed back when he was in the presence of an evil entity/creature. Indicating that he’s on the 4th stage: depression. Realizing that going back into the past will only make it worse for him and that his GF wouldn’t want him to do that, he tries to escape his mind before becoming lost in his traumatic past and going insane. He tries to save what’s left of his humanity from this fate of failing to move on.

When he eventually comes back to reality, he accepts that he has to move on. Going into the final stage of grief: acceptance. To be thankful for the good times, and to not be sad because they’re gone. It ends with his GF’s doll appearing in front of him, indicating to him that his GF will always be there for him, no matter what. Giving him the boost he needed to continue on.

(Most of the animation is set in MC’s mind.)

The characters in the story resembled the 5 stages of Grief, same with the colour code going on with them. Colour is very important in the animation, it signifies which stages he’s on or which ones he switches too. The colours of Green, blue, yellow, purple & red all take place in his head, while the colour of cyan takes place outside of his head (in the real world).
-Girlfriend = Denial (Green)
-Missing Brother = Anger (Blue)
-Robot from the past = Bargaining (Yellow)
-Evil Entity/Creature = Depression (Purple)
-MC = Acceptance (Red)
-Real World = Not in his mind (Cyan)

The models for each of the characters aren't supposed to be connected to the franchises from where they originate from, and I did my best to make sure they were changed enough so they don't resemble their counter parts.
