Thanks for such a well-informed introduction that respects the venerable past of the island. I grew up seeing the majestic silhouette of the island from the other side of the Aegean, and now it’s great to hear about the deep-rooted traditions that inhabited Samothrace.

Orphicorum Fragmenta is a collection of fragments of those following Orpheism. It was collected by Otto Kern and is available as a book with the same title. The title is in Latin because not all Librarians know Greek. The Latin title allows shelving in the alphabetical order of the Latin Script. Translations in English of some of the fragments are said to be found in Proclus' s Commentaries on the Theology of Plato...Elements of Plato s Theology translated into English by Thomas Taylor who also translated the Hymns of Orpheus. Orphism is also related to the Mithraic cult, the two seem to complement each other.

The alphabet from the island is a very interesting key to false myths and legends.😊
