My sister was 14 when she confessed to me that my grandfather abused her during a family trip to Mexico, I was 15. I blacked out, out of rage and tried running to the basement where my grandparents lived but my mom cried and held me back. Both her and my mother struggled to stop me but eventually i gave up. They convinced me that it wasn't my business to tell. They waited a whole year to tell my father while i struggled bad. When my father finally found out, he never confronted my grandfather. Even though my father comes off as a hard guy I learned he was smoke and mirrors like his father. They both prey upon the weak. He beat my brother and I badly growing up but the moment his daughter confessed to being abused by his father, he didn't have the courage to do anything about it. I wish i had a father like Cain.

I think those of us with young children understand this situation much better. Cain I’m sure was just seeing red and had not a thought or fear in his head except retribution. The state failed his child and he took it into his own hands.
