Wind Dance POS-16X 16' Oscillating Stand Fan | Initial Checkout

The initial checkout of a Wind Dance branded 16" oscillating stand / floor / pedestal fan. I paid $12 for the unit, which is probably more than reasonable, but I had to have it due to the model number, POS-16X. The fan was originally sold at WalMart. The UL sticker gives it a date of 10/99, so it was likely sold during the summer of 2000. It appears to be some kind of Windmere product, or at least the same OEM as Windmere used.

Unfortunately, the model number was correct in the sense that it is in fact a POS. The motor is behaving as if the capacitor has failed. I can't blame it too much though, the capacitor sat for 23 years and never had any power applied. Equipment does tend to break down when it sits idle for extended periods of time.

Definitely a Windmere product. This one is made by Paragon who noticably made the windmere DF-7 and the KS-16h. Strangely enough that 12" windmere you shown is of a completely different OEM despite boath fans having the awful mesh grill. Windmere used 4 OEMs that I know of: Paragon, KuoHorng, GuanShing, and Lakewood.

I vaguely remember the Wind Dance brand. My grandma had a cheapo twin window fan with that name on it..which iv been trying to find another.

As for the fan you have. It's definitely a rebranded Windmere fan. Windmere used that "KS" model number in the late 90s on their stand fans. Everything from the motor to blad screams Windmere to me.

Generally, Windmere fans are pretty good quality..surprised this one is literally a POS..

There a couple of things I would like to mention. 1 I did not know Jordan had never had to assemble a pedestal fan before. 2. The model POS-16X, I would like to mention means that the fan is a POS straight out of the box and the X means ex functioning.

I got to say, this Wind Dance version of the Windmere sounds extremely rare. I’m not too familiar with this brand. I do, however, remember Walmart once sold the Windmere version model WSF-1600 like the one Windmere1993 made a video of back in 2017.

I used to see these Windmeres at Walmart back in the early 2000’s (circa 2001, 2002, or 2003). Considering how uncommon it is to find these Wind Dances, I might have seen this brand or something similar also from Walmart, going back 20 something years ago.

You never know what you’re going to find out there. That was very out of the blue to find this Windmere styled fan from the late 90’s-early 2000’s era. Hopefully all this fan needs is a new capacitor to get it going. That’s a good find, I’m impressed 👍🏻.

For how this looks cheap and a bit junk is still better than today versions of these fans with capacitors and motors that get burnt in just 3/4 yrs and they run boiling hot. I have a black fan from 2002 with a remote and even if it’s nothing of the highest quality with some oil it’s still working perfectly good.

Those feet that come with that fan or most modern fans are always a nightmare because they always get bent somehow

i would wasted my 12 bucks on it since i dont like mesh grill fans it hampers the airflow so much

Most modern fans are junk these day. I bought a more expensive fan, and it has lasted 4 years I think old fans are better
