The problem is, you can't put the student athletes in a bubble and not have the rest of the students make a stink about it. Schools don't want lawsuits on their hands and some rich parent definitely would sue the school if their kid has to go to online only and the student athlete gets all these perks.

Im hearing the smaller schools don't have the same testing capabilities and testing regulations so thats part of it. Of course business & $$ will play a role too

Still pretty sad Wisconsin won’t take on ND even though they’d be at home..

No NFL this year, NCAA college could do a 32 team invitational play 8 to 12 games, each team gets 4 bye weeks to make season last longer. Imagine Ga. Bulldogs and Ohio State Monday night game. Or Notre Dame, and Clemson, And At the end College Super Bowl. OH!! Wait, I was just dreaming.

This is how we get the College Football Playoff right. Conference Champs enter single elimination tournament for National Champ.

South Carolina and Clemson have played football through some of the worst times, over a 100 years of history, I'm sure we can play through this virus too and continue the longest-lasting OOC rivalry.

Eastern Washington won a national title in 2010, they regularly make deep runs in the playoffs.

I’m glad they are doing this no more pointless games for the most part.

Pat, you NAILED it in regards to the reasoning as to why the non-conference games were cancelled. it's all about the payout. It makes the most sense.

With schools playing different numbers of games and no interconference play it;s going to be almost impossible to pick just four teams for the national playoffs without a MASSIVE amount of screaming.

I college rodeo and our regions (basically a conference) is basically telling us if you have face time facw classes during the time of the rodeo we get to compete there. We have around 150 competitors at each rodeo so it’s around the same number of athletes as in a college football team.

The conference play idea is completely stupid. Like Pat said West Virginia traveling everywhere. Then I look at my old school Uiowa and the non conference was Iowa State, Northern Iowa, and Northern Illinois. Are you really trying to convince me those games are any more dangerous than playing the schools in the same state but their own conference. The other thing is football supplements other sports programs that don’t make money this effects so many other athletes other than just football.

I hope I’m wrong but the way things are looking in the States, students will be lucky to have any college semester at all.

For anybody thinking Notre Dame is screwed now: they still have their 6 ACC games and can fill the final 4-5 games with the other 5 independents. They aren't the only independent out there lol. And that's if they aren't considered a full-time ACC team for this season.

It's pretty gross that well paid people are making decisions for unpaid athletes and their well being. In other words, rich people want to figure out how they can keep their gravy train going with exploited labor.
I'm not even remotely a college sports fan. The whole thing is exploitive and gross to me.
