“Just been discovered”? Native Americans have been using this fruit for thousands of years.

They are found in many states in America not just Texas. And the trees are not always 26 ft high or higher. Also the fruits that the trees produce have no spikes on them. You can also just set them around in your basement are other places in your house where you don't want insects. I have always heard them referred to as hedge apples. And sometimes they are referred to as monkey balls. And oh yes these trees have not been recently discovered they have been around for centuries.

Bright yellow nicely figured wood... seasons to a nice cinnamon brown...can be "ammonia fumed" to speed up or intensify the "season" is great as a "tone wood" for building music instruments, with tone qualities matching Brazilian Rosewood.

These are everywhere at my college campus. Called horse apples. I was told they get rid of insects that are bad for plants by my horticulture professor. But I had to toss the apples i collected after i found out they could harm our outside cats.

Fun fact, squires take them for food during winter. I have a pile of it in the yard, they are all gone after winter.

If this fruit is cultivated and bred properly, I bet it could become really popular

had a bunch of these near me in kansas, they were a bit smaller, but the insect repellant thing still applied.

The wood of the tree is so hard that it has been used for the bearings for the shafts for large ship's propellers. I tried once to make a pair of grips for a pistol and could not cut the wood even with a hacksaw.

GOMU NO GOMU NO...OSAGE!!!

the thing that made the osage orange more devil fruit is that not only does it look like a fruit taken straight out of one piece, but you can't eat more than one of them. and they taste like sulfuric acid.

We had one of these trees in our yard in Mississippi in the 70s. We called them horse apples.
