It's easy to make a numbered list in InDesign, but setting up multiple indented levels is a bit less intuitive. Learn how in this video!

My recording setup (btw some of these are Amazon affiliate links):
Camera: iPhone 11
Recording software: Quicktime
Editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects

Thank you so much! It is so weird to have to do this manually, especially after using Word for such a long time. Perhaps Adobe need to write a piece of code that allow users to use some default numbering and bullets without having to do all this work. I spent a good 10 mins trying to do this on my own, before resorting to YouTube for the solution.

Great Tutorial. I would also love one on how to number headings for chapters with lower level sections such as Chapter 1, Section 1.1, Sub-section 1.1.1. etc

Excellent! Your explanation is highly pedagogical, congratulations. 👍🙂

I have three questions, could you please give me some guidance:

1.) if, instead of using one of the preset formats, I want to use a different one or modify one of the existing ones, how should I do it?
For example: I would like to use the number format in the first level: 1. For the second level: 1.1. For the third level 1.1.1: etc. But I can't find how to do that from the presets, what I do see, are a series of "weird" characters "^#.^t", And maybe that's the key....
2.) If I want to add a parenthesis after the number, what kind of character do I need to place and where?
3.) Will there be any Adobe article explaining these "weird" symbols for those of us who don't know about them?

Thank you very much!
