Joe is an amazing teacher: I have learned more reading his books and watching his videos than in any lesson I have ever taken! He makes complex things seems achievable, and makes simple stuff sound cool enough to practice.

Wish I'd had these videos years ago....There's so much good instruction on YouTube now, Beato too is outstanding...but every bit of playing we do and have done can be incorporated, so what's important is to have no regrets- there was no time lost!

And then you come to the internet and hypocrites tell you: "You don't need theory, it will limit you...". Understanding music to the level he does (aside his composition talents) is what makes him such an amazing guitarist.

The never ending refining of a song seems to be a direct result of an artist and his ever growing knowledge of any particular instrument. Knowledge is power, soul is key and practice leads to perfection.

8:04= "Pitch Axis" from Not of This Earth. Also used to great effect in Lords of Karma and the bridge tapping sequence in Satch Boogie, in which I had the great fortune to of had Joe show me how to do correctly.

Awesome video. Number 5 should be even better. I love watching his thought process at work. Whether this is new info or a refresher, it's oozing with bits of wisdom.

Absolutely amazing series where he goes breaking down the whole process of how he slowly and painstakingly got into assembling his knowledge piece by piece like a puzzle.
Makes you realize, if there was any need, that the magic did not come overnight

joe is the best at playing on a pitch axis. he can just use tension and keep you interested. I find it works best with the lydian mode and resolve to the 5 or 1 . but he can do it so effortlessly.

That guitar just sings - ofcourse the master plays it so - but I believe it is a very special instrument. Wondering if there will be an update to the series - been a long time since JS has released a newer version of the 24 series. Looking forward to it.

"Easier to play than to say folks!" I have the opposite! :D

Anyone else have any bits where the audio cut out? Didn't happen whilst he was playing, only whilst he was speaking.

I find it hard to understand people wanting just action in his fingers than words of wisdom coming out from his mouth. You can't intricately explain the musicality of his if we fail to understand how some things work, like explaining further the relationships between, maybe notes or modes and stuff like that. Thing is... they are both important, both the action and words. You can't really understand if it's all just music.

Him playing around in a lesson sounds like a better crafted song than some of the shit people spend years working on.
