I really need a camera adapter thing cause I have this old cam that has a Sd card filled with pics when I was a little boy

Apple lightning to usb camera adapter (skinny one) doesn't have the update chip in it like the usb3 version. So from experience it has crashed and said it wasn't compatible with ipad in the middle of a performance. So go for the usb3 adapter!

I must admit to some confusion as to how your preferred adapter supplies any power, or is it that it has a USB-C port that allows the connection of external power banks, etc?

The dual USB-C adapter with duplex audio via 3.5mm. Aftermarket only. IPad Pro we must buy a hub and make sure it has a USB-C input/thru that has power.
