Greek Folk Music, Macedonia: Synkathistos Dance 9/8, Bagpipes. Ttraditional synkathistos dance from Macedonia, Greece, in 9/8 time signature. Yiannis Dobrides plays the askaulos (also known as "gaida"), a Greek folk instrument of the bagpipe family. From the CD "The Greek Folk Instruments - Gaida, Tsambouna, Zournas", F.M. Records. Συγκαθιστός Μακεδονίας, άσκαυλος (γκάιντα) Γιάννης Ντομπρίδης. Please note: this tune comes from Macedonia, northern Greece, which corresponds to ancient Macedonia. Not to be confused with the modern country of the FYROM (the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) which borders with Macedonia, Greece, but corresponds to ancient Paeonia, not Macedonia.

Dear FYROMian viewers: enjoy the beautiful music and stop being foolish nationalists. Just because a few decades ago you decided to rename yourselves from Bulgarians to "Macedonians" that doesn't mean that Macedonians are not Greeks and that real Macedonia is not in Greece! Ancient (real) Macedonia was and still is a part of Greece, while your country, FYROM, actually corresponds to ancient Paeonia, NOT to ancient Macedonia! Last and best, the six-year long DNA research of the Balkan peoples *conducted by FYROM's* “Skopje Forensics Medicine Institute”which also confirmed that the residents of the so called "Republic of Macedonia" (FYROM) who claim they are - and want others to call them - "ethnic Macedonians", *are, of course, Slavs and have the most similar DNA with Bulgarians and Serbs*.
