I've just moved house and got rid of so much clutter before we moved. As I'm unpacking, I'm going through it all again and I'm still donating, selling and throwing things away. It's definitely worth going through items twice even if you've only just done it.

I hit the ground at light speed at the beginning of the year, had donation pickups coming weekly to collect mountains of stuff, seven weeks later it slowed to a trickle and I hit a real lull. I kept myself clear, and allowed the lull, and am now getting going again. I cannot emphasize enough that it is a process, NOT an ending. It takes 6-12 months to really clear out a large house, maybe longer. And then you keep going back to 'edit'. GIVE YOURSELF THE TIME NEEDED!

I’ve fallen into the trap of declutteting to buy new things without even realizing I was doing it!

Yes! One step at a time. I’m a few years in and no where near where I want to be but I know I have come so far!!

You change, you really do, and what you love and keep will change over time. It's a good thing!

I tend to accumulate empty storage boxes and bins when I declutter, not find I need more! Storage items are actually some of my favorite to declutter because it's a mark of how much has already left the house that I don't need them any more.

DON'T buy any bins, unless they are returnable! As you declutter and minimize, you will find yourself emptying what you at first filled with pared down belongings. I have discovered that the clear salad boxes, large and small make excellent organization tools for drawers etc, they disappear because they are clear, and it is an awesome way to reuse something that would normally end up in recycling. Just trim the edges, and voila.

I did a huge declutter a while ago and at that point I was kind of new to decluttering anything besides clothing. In the last couple of weeks, I actually went through and decluttered again, even though it hadn't been that long. I consider the first round "getting rid of what I know I don't want" and the second round "making sure I've ONLY kept what I do want"

My mistake was that I got rid of things that I actually used on a regular basis!

I was given 3 sets of lined baskets 3 years ago. As I decluttered, I used those baskets. I kept hunting for baskets to match over the years....at the end of 2018 I realized that everything finally fit in to those baskets! I was very excited. So far in 2019 I have decluttered a few more things and now have lined baskets from the sets I am no longer using. WIN!

So helpful! I'm trying to declutter a bag a day for Lent (which should give a hint as to how much excess I have). ;-)

I ended up a minimal minimalist: my goal is to get rid of one thing a day. usually I do more but I feel accomplished/motivated when I meet this low-bar goal. I appreciate your videos: I watch one a day to keep me on my goal.

I fall into that trap, leaving things in my space. I don't want things just thrown away. I want to declutter sustainably.

I'm decluttering my most of my books only to get my all time favorites in the most beautiful editions i can find, so the series look uniform on my shelf
Not really the idea of minimalism but they are soooo beautiful 😍😍
Bye to the old hello new

I feel like leaving things that I’m going to donate is fine. I’m very deliberate about who I give things to. I know many people dump things at the thrift store. But that’s not me. I find people or organizations who need specific items and pass them on that way.

I have been decluttering for about 5years and struggle with having 3 kids and a hubby who likes to constantly update things around the house so I am always finding ways to get rid of the old so it doesn't hang out filling up the garage! 😫 Your videos keep me inspired and motivated. Thank you! 😊

I have a pre-decluttering mistake, lol.
Watching a lot of YouTube videos, and procrastinating...
Well, at least I'll be aware of possible mistakes.
Thanks for sharing your insights.
