Everything I LOVED about my Audi S8

The time has come for Mat to say farewell to his Audi S8!

He’s spent the last 6 months running it as his daily driver, and he’s about to take you through why he’s just so fond of this luxurious saloon.

However, once he’s done that, he’ll be introducing his replacement car… An all-new Audi R8 Spyder! He’s already had his hands on it for a couple of weeks, so he’s about to take you on a tour of the key features of this mid-engine mounted supercar, as well as a run through his chosen spec.

With it being an all-new car, Mat’s been able to spec it exactly to his tastes. So as a result, he’s followed the trend as seen with his Audi RS6, BMW M3 and Audi S8, and he’s gone for yet another green car! Not only that, but he’s chosen a brown folding roof, brown seats, and gold alloys!

Sure, so the spec may not be to everyone’s taste, but we doubt there’ll be anyone who isn’t impressed by the engine - a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that can deliver 620hp and 580Nm of torque! And of course, being the Spyder, there’ll be more than enough opportunities for Mat to hear it in full force with the roof down! That is, as long as we don’t have a rain-filled British summer…

However, despite the glorious engine, do you really think the R8 Spyder is worth the £170,000 starting price?! You’ll have to stick with Mat and find out for yourself!

Had one of these the first year they were released. Main difference was mine had a 6-speed manual fitted. Still to this day the best noise I've every heard out of an engine of any car I've owned sitting behind my ears. The gear box was sublime too. £175k ???? Mine was a V10 Spyder and listed at £106k in 2009. Car prices have gone mad. Still YouTube's best Car presenter Matt, brilliant reviewer

Congratulations Matt! I own an Audi R8 V10 (2011) and have driven over 120k kilometers (75k miles) with it on the Autobahn mostly (so not too slow most o the time) and it has been reliable as ever.
The only Issue i had was often being stopped by the French Police near the Border towards Metz from Germany to check my Papers. I guess they just like to stop Sportscars there.
But that's about it.

This reminds me of my Dad who once bought loads of green paint (must have been going cheap) so for the next decade anytime anything needed painting - the doors, window frames, the gate, the rain gutters - even the chairs in the house they all got that same shade of green paint. It was the same shade as that Audi too - I am sure he would have loved it.

Used to hate the R8, love them now. That specification is gorgeous. Not sold on a convertible supercar, but admittedly the top is awesome. Interior is also what I'd love to spec. Great daily - lucky boy. Let me know what the child thinks being on the roof.

I think the only issue that literally stands out is the lack of seating space for the driver! However, if there was no issue about a driver's available seating space where comfort is needed, I think that the whole driving experience would be a whole lot better! Great video, best regards...

Yes! I’m had many convertibles and they are great. I don’t care if people say the feel strange in corners because of the missing roof structure. The sound and sun in your face is worth it!

23.6 mpg wow! My diesel 3008 over 5 years has averaged 58 mpg and it’s 130 hp is more than sufficient for Britains roads seeing as we can never go faster than 70 mph anywhere in the country without a speed camera catching you.

Somebody reversed into the front end of my Passat last year. The cosmetic damage was tiny and I would’ve just let it go however as the women kept shouting at me and being generally rude, repeatedly telling me she had “a brand new BMW”, I made a point of taking her details. Good job I did as the front radar and some of the parking sensors went insane on the trip home.
Massive repair that cost her insurance a small fortune, and I got my front bumper resprayed so no more stone chips. Moral of the story is always take their details, however minor the damage seems.
