Novel Azo Pigments/ Dyes Production: Art Applications

Two fairly recent novel entries into 'azo pigments/ dyes are outlined which have potential in the production of paint formulations for visual art applications. One method afford azo pigments/ dyes heretofore not easily prepared. One method (the 'grind method') is applicable to the undergrad organic laboratory. I use these azo compounds in production of so-called 'cold wax' paints. Thesea re sent to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for inclusion in their paint/ pigment collection.
