You Need That Rekkid #28: Curtis Amy/Dupree Bolton 'Katanga'

Chris from Rekkid Talk takes another opportunity to talk about a jazz rekkid he likes while exposing his lack of jazz knowledge. The recent Tone Poet reissue "Katanga" from 1963 features Curtis Amy on saxophone and Dupree Bolton on trumpet. For a variety of reasons, the players on this outstanding record never became big names in the jazz world.

Glad you highlighted this album. I think the pacific jazz titles are the gems of the Tone Poet series.

Totally agree on this album. I bought it after a bunch of people showed it and liked it. Very good album.

Sounds good to me. I've heard Curtis Amy but don't have any of his albums and it sounds like this would be an excellent addition to my collection.
