Rabbi Black, our backgrounds sound so similar. Raised in rough neighborhoods around gangs and violence. Sometimes I wonder if our troubles early in life mirror the troubles of the Jewish people in mitzrayim. I also came to a realization of the truth of Torah through personal seeking. Being a minority, Hashem was always there to call upon, maybe it's just the pressure of coming out of that which makes His Oneness so vivid. For me, conversion felt like coming to a home I had not known. Toda raba, great class.
