In this Since You Been Gone lesson, I will show you how to play all of Ritchie Blackmore's guitar parts for this hit by Rainbow.

The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.

From those instantly recognizable opening chords, through the arpeggio picked verse section and beyond, I will take you through each section of "Since You Been Gone" in the order that each appears on the original recording.

I will also take you through both of Ritchie Blackmore's guitar solos. The first solo is quite simple but the second one that closes out the song is far more involved with lots of challenging bends and legato licks.

This is a great song for almost any level of guitar player too. Great song for someone working on their power chords, barre chords, wanting to learn a solo or wanting to work on their alternate picking also it's just a fun song to play.

For the first solo I think you are right about the position Ritchie plays it in. Watching him live he played a lot of his licks and leads around that part of the neck. He's an all time fave. Thanks for the lesson.

great song with a great lesson. A lot of folk miss the key change, but not Carl. FYI, I saw Richie play it live and the starting G was an open chord-for whatever that's worth . After you throw some distortion on those subtleties are moot. :)
