Here's how to make cornbread in a cast iron pan without any sticking -- no matter what kind of cornbread pan you're using. If there's any dish that absolutely must be baked in a cast iron pan, it's cornbread. At flea markets, garage sales, and antique stores, there will always be at least one of these cast iron corn bread molds. So, take that thing that's been sitting on a shelf for the past ten years, and make some cornbread!

I was just in a panic because I couldn’t find any recipes using this skillet, and it’s been years since I’ve used it! Thank goodness I found this!

I made cornbread in my Mom’s Lodge today, inspired by you! I never knew about heating the pan and oil before adding the batter. It worked perfectly, no sticking! Thanks for making this video.

Great video. Thanks for the recipe too. Your trivets are beautiful. I’m back a week later. I just made these with my 12 year old daughter. We used a the same skillet and a Wagner 🌽 shaped pan. Excellent instruction. Preheating the pan and a generous application of vegetable oil and the bread slid right out! No sticking. I’m going to use whole milk next time. We didn’t like the aftertaste of the buttermilk. Thanks for another great video. 🍻

I have both of these iron skillet corn pans. However baking in them the bread always stuck. After watching your video. I followed your directions. Tonight I made cornbread and it slid out. No more sticking. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not down with sugar in cornbread, but I do love to add corn kernels, fresh or frozen, for a delightful textural contrast and sweetness.

I have a pre 1960 bs&r skillet from my mother in law. Thanks for identifing it for me, in an earlier video. I use it almost daily, but have never made cornbread in it. Maybe soon. Thank you for your videos.

Fantastic! Thank you for the how to video. I wondered how I was going to make this work. My spouse, from Texas, agrees with your comments "its not cornbread not cooked in cast iron."

I agree with you. I love cornbread in the Cast Iron Skillet. But I love it in a regular baking pan. I just love cornbread, lol. Great video thanks for sharing.

This looks so great! I avoided cast iron cornbread pans because I grew up thinking they were a gimmick. I'm glad to know they are actually valuable, and i look forward to getting one!

Just wanna say thanks to you. I'm new To cast iron And couldn't figure out why my Cor bread stuck to my lodge pan. Never occurred to me and not in the recipe, that I should heat The oil. Tried it this morning and cornbread fell outta the pan as soon as I turned it upside down. Again many thanks !

Your last video mentioned heating the pan first. Made all the difference!

This isn't about cornbread, although I often make cornbread in a 10" cast iron skillet. I wanted to share with you that I just made Chicken, Sausage, Peppers & Potatoes from Food Wishes in an extra-large cast iron skillet. I highly recommend it, and it's easier to use the skillet than using a roaster because I mixed the ingredients and roasted them in the same pan.

I found a vintage Lodge round corn bread pan and a vintage BSR cornstick bread pan while thrifting some years ago. Never cooked in either of them fearing I'd wind up with crumbly corn bread chunks and a hard to clean mess in the corners and little corn kernel divits. With your hot-oil-in-the-hot-pan secret revealed, I'm going to make some (Southern) cornbread right now, even though it's midnight! I've waited long enough! Thanks for the video!

My stepfather would sometimes add sweet creamed corn to the batter.

Wow thank you so much for making this!!! So informative and great quality! You should have your own show. Which I guess YouTube kinda is but I'm sure you know what I mean. Lol.

Nice video. I picked up a couple corn bread pans recently. I had always seen the corn stick ones. But I found one that looks like fish. It reminded me of my grandpa so I had to have it. I figured it would go on the wall somewhere and that would be it. But I think I'll have to try making some cornbread in them after seeing this video. Thanks

I use my pans at room temperature and coat them with Crisco to keep from sticking. Fill the pans and put into the hot oven. The bread never sticks and is not fried on the bottom, just baked!
