I'm not particularly short, just further away than I appear

That thumbnail... I've been there. Its a "hell park" a few hours outside Bangkok Thailand. Its full of statues depicting the tortures of hell. I believe Buddhist parents take their kids to them sometimes to show them what will happen if they commit sins like not respecting their elders. That statue in the thumbnail is one of two huge statues that tower over the park. It is indeed tall... but wow, kind of surprised to see that as the image TIFO went with.

I was growth hormone deficient and around 12 years of age, went on a year of hormone therapy to supplement my body's own hormone production (or lack thereof). Basically had to inject myself with a syringe of HGH (Human Growth Hormone) every night in the thighs to give my body the kick in the bones it needed to reach an average height. I grew a good foot and a half on the stuff. Which is good because my pediatrician said I wouldn't even be anywhere near 5 feet in height at the rate I was growing before the therapy. I'm now about 5'2", which is still considered short, but it's well within average stature for an adult woman. Beyond grateful I didn't have to do the alternative of bone lengthening surgery. It's basically a year of daily agony as you break the bones to stretch them apart a precious few millimetres with a crank equipped brace after an initial surgery to break them.

I didn’t like this video at first, but it grew on me...

Me, an under five foot adult person: This question has plagued me my entire life. 😂

"... but can *stretch* into the mid-twenties."

Am I the only one to notice that pun? Yeah, I'm too lazy to look at the likely hundreds of comments to check if anyone else mentioned it.
😄😂🤣😂😄

Nutrition also plays a large role in maximum height. Basically your genes give you a min max range and nutrition (along with other environmental factors) determine where you fall in that range

Dad: 5'6"
Mom: 4'8"
Parents just wanted me to reach 5-foot, I managed 5'2.5". Mission Accomplished!

"...you'll just have to buy taller shoes."

As disturbing as it is, there is actually a procedure to "grow" taller, and it involves breaking the tibia and fibula, then bracing the break with metal splints that are actually screwed into the bones and stretched throughout the healing process. It's EXTREMELY painful, and really doesn't add enough height to be worth the misery and risks imo - except in cases of medical necessity, but it exists. It's mostly done in some east Asian countries where male height is socially significant.

“Change your hight, get taller shoes”
I remember seeing a video about a paraplegic woman. She enjoys how now; she can change her hight by choosing what legs she wants to wear that day.

It's always bizarre going from watching business blaze videos all day to watching your other content

My mom is a six foot tall woman who had problems dating because men felt "intimated." She ended up with a very short man with a bit of a height fetish (which is a story I try not to think about). She worried about my future love life and actually tried to PREVENT me from growing by having me walk around with encyclopedias piled up on my head. (I have excellent walking posture thanks to that). She feared when I had an early growth spurt, and between ages 9-12, I was the tallest girl in my grade, and the 5th tallest kid in elementary school. I ended up a decent 5'7", much to her relief, or maybe thanks to volumes A-F of the Encyclopedia Britannica. I'm still the tallest lady among my friends, and my love life was in no way affected by being a slightly tall woman.

Men, please don't feel intimidated by tall ladies. If your masculinity is that fragile, you don't have the balls for any woman, period.

I remember being the tallest kid in my whole school when I was in 3rd grade I was 5ft 4inches, even a good bit taller than the 5th graders going into middle school and as tall as a couple of my teachers. I would stand with my feet very far apart because it made me appear shorter but my teacher would hit my legs with a ruler to make me stand up straighter. The doctors said I could easily grow up to 6ft +. But I only grew half an inch taller after that grade lol. Which was nice, I finally started to level out with everyone else and stopped getting called giraffe girl or giant 🙄.

I have always heard that any creature is limited in size because of their ability to release internal heat. Mass versus surface area.

I just want to be tall enough to see over the crowd at concerts. I've managed to get behind the tallest person in the crowd a few times, haha! And I always end up in front of a giant speaker, kinda close, when i started in the middle back. Concerts are weird.

As someone who is on the actual edge of gigantism, I would say that I’ve enjoyed my height over the years, but you wouldn’t want to have to buy my clothes (much less find them). Or find cars to buy that are comfortable to drive. Or airlines seats...or, we’ll you get the point.
