The Future of Autonomous Aerial Systems: Ascent AeroSystems with their new HELIUS, at Verticon 2025.

The use of autonomous aerial systems is skyrocketing—both metaphorically and literally. At Verticon Dallas 2025, we caught up with Peter Fuchs, CEO and Co-Founder of Ascent AeroSystems to talk about the evolution of their coaxial UAV platforms, the latest launch of HELIUS, and the growing role of A.I. in uncrewed aviation.

With onboard A.I., swarming capabilities, and LTE connectivity, HELIUS is redefining small-scale aerial intelligence.

From pipeline inspections to helicopter integrations, these UAVs are becoming an essential tool for both military and civilian operations. Watch now!

While I was at uni we worked on a very similar design but it had some pretty big flaws. For instance its lack of agility was horrendous, its power to weight ratio is also terrible, its highly susceptible to air turbulence, and its stability was also very poor which could only fix by adding a custom built oscillating gyro. This design offers very few benefits, but I’m interested to see the innovations that have been made.

I remembered buying a parrot drone, at the time it was a good purchase, had gun with it. After a few years they stopped making drones and stop supporting their devices, you cannot even get parts for purchase anymore now that drone is sitting under my desk collecting dust.
