Cost of the Au Pair Program for Host Families

This is the second video in a series about the Au Pair program from a host mom point of view. These videos are made in collaboration with my current and former Au Pairs. One expense not discussed in this video is if you choose to have nanny vehicle. I can discuss this in a later video if there is interest.

Thank you so much for this video. I am from Brazil but I live in US and I really wanna get an Au Pair so my kids can have more connection with my native language. This was the only video I found about this topic. BTW, good job on treating them as your family. I was an exchange student back in 2006 and my host family treated me like their own family. each au pair pays for their visa as well as pays between $ 1, 000 and $ 2, 000 to participate in the program

Other thing to have in mind when you are a host family and the au pair is not allowed to drive and use the car family during the time off, is the cost of public transportation (if there is any) or ubers, I heard a lot au pairs that they spend a lot of money on that when they live in the middle of nowhere... btw thanks for your videos"

Just so families know Au Pairs pay the agency fee as well as their visa, and other expenses such as a international drivers license for example or even a extra fee for a better health plan.

I can go onto my Au Pair sister agency (so the angecy in America my country angecy works with) and see the host family payment plans, and they can see ours. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing to know what the other person is upfront expect to pay and cotnrubite but it was nice for me to understand

Great info! I've used Go aupair and Au pair International so far and was pleasantly surprised that both are a little cheaper than Cultural Care but this isn't enough to deter me from Cultural Care, my focus is on finding the right au pair, no matter what agency!

We're in the interview process right now and the taxes is something I'm completely stumped on. Our CPA is saying we have to pay towards social security, etc. but the handbook received said the opposite. Can you elaborate at all on how you file or what you have to pay towards when it comes to taxes?

Sorry, can someone please clarify, so the AU Pair pays for uber/public transportation when they don't have drivers license or is the money for that also provided by the host family? Basically, what are those 200$ a week given for?

I have a family of 3 members and I want to get an aupair man I already choose him but I don't know what to do to invite him he's from Egyptian(not the EU) I mean steps after choosing because it's my 1st time to try this program.
