This might actually work. I'd have to do the math on whether it could be initiated before the global extinction occurs, and whether it would be in time to stop the current feedback loops, but 20 years ago, it would have been perfect.

Iceland has a very high rate of inbreeding do to its isolated location, small population, and dark cold winters.

It might not be such a good idea given that earthquakes have been connected to the practice of fracking. Anyway why would you develop a way to bury it when there would be far more benefit to recycling the carbon into a bio reactor with lipid producing algae. Its a lot like if one should bury all their household garbage or recycle as much as possible. my two cents.
