Brooks HYPERION TEMPO - First Impression REVIEW | FOD Runner

Brooks HYPERION TEMPO - First Impression REVIEW - finally I am adding my second speed shoe into the summer running shoe rotation and its an absolute gem. The brooks hyperion tempo comes in super light in my size and has flashes of the hoka one one rincon about it, which as you guys know, is a shoe I love! We have lots more testing to do in the brooks hyperion tempo but initial impressions are promising, is it possibly the best speed/tempo running shoe of 2020? Time will tell!

When I put my foot into the shoe for the first time -it was like "wow"very good pleasant feeling true to size100%.I run mostly in Brooks shoes and this particular type is simply fantastic.If you chasing your PR this is the right shoe.Using once a week just for tempo run.It's an outstanding shoe -I'm still kind of shocked how good it is.It's different level.Very good job Brooks..

I am hearing a lot of good stuff about these shoes. Kofuzi put them ahead of Boston 9, my actual favourite tempo shoe, when he compared both. Iam looking forward to seeing your next videos about them. Nice job mate!

I absolutely love this shoe and have used it for speed work (in absence of track during lock-down), tempo runs and indeed 5k and 10k time-trials. It's super comfortable and responsive when you need it to be. Possibly a bit firm (and not stable enough) for easy to long runs - otherwise, I'd run it in everyday! In terms of a shoe for tempo / steady state runs and - for those who don't use a carbon plate shoe for racing - Brooks have nailed it in my opinion.

About the lockdown, probably you should check on the laces. Some laces are more stretchy than others, and if combined with also a stretchy upper, lockdown going to be a mess. Had some problems with stretchy laces before and had to change them for a better fit with my previous shoes.

I loved running in the Brooks Glycerin shoe and it was my main shoe for both marathons. It sounds like Brooks have a new, exciting shoe worth a look.

Great review Andy. I took these out for first time on Sunday, loved them. Responsive, stable and so so light for a size 13 as you said. Felt like they wanted you to run quicker. I had no issues with the lockdown, all felt secure. In short, the best shoe I have run in for a long time.

Picked up a pair of these over the past weekend and did a mid-block 10k speed test in them... they're great, I love them... now to see if I can see how far of a distance they stay comfortable for.

Great review. You may well do already but, is price point a factor into the judgement of a shoe? An interesting video might be a look back at shoes you've retired/worn out and working out the £ per mile breakdown (although that might not be great for your accountant to see).

Ah very interesting. This one had kind of passed me by but excited to hear it is pretty lightweight and in the Turbo 2 range - maybe even slightly lighter - but certainly good for training for sure. Less excited that you were swimming around a bit! Mind you in shoes like the TC I had to crank down the laces a lot and it did not look you had any creasing yet so presume they could come in a lot more (as I normally have to)? Brooks sizing I have not quite sussed yet. The Launch 5 and 6 were OK for me in a 12 and at the time were a good substitute for my previous Boston which started to come up too small in a 12.5. I did have a brief go with a 13 in a narrow version of the Ghost and that was a good fit just a bit too clumpy for my liking so never ended doing much in it. I wonder then if could get away with a 12 and save a bit of width. How much room have you get left in toebox? I measured my feet at 302mm and recall you are a few mm longer albeit we normally have same size although Hoka in 12.5 was OK for me. Also have you done any road miles yet? I would use the Turbo 2 "anywhere" in summer but one thing doing 12 miles on firm trails and another 12 all on Tarmac.

Great review!! How do these compare to the Nike Pegasus Turbo 2? Which one is easier on the feet and ankles for 8 to 10 mile tempo runs?

Andy I am really tempted trying the tempo in the new black and white colour way but not sure if I should half size up or not. I do a 9 in the Endorphin Speed but all my adidas I go to 9.5. Any thoughts mate?

spot on first impression mate. how’s the fit? i have borderline mid/wide feet tho.i have the endorphin pro and they fit perfectly, would you say they have the similar fit?

With all the running YouTubers reporting a lack of lockdown in many of the high end running shoes over the last year, Maybe the reason for this is that in the quest / demand for lighter shoes the manufacturers are sacrificing the padding inside the heel area to reduce weight.Some reviewers are really becoming obsessed by a few grams. Never heard an elite runner complain that they didn’t win was because of their shoe weight.

Just got the shoe as well. only thing I found was hot spots on the balls of my feet around the big toe. not sure if it is the laces or maybe the brooks insert or even socks. Overall amazing shoe! Great Video!
