Super Duck (Galapagos Duck & Friends) Challenge '87.

Hopes were high in Australian yachting circles that 1987 would be the year when Australia could make it two in a row and repeat the historic 1983 America's Cup win.

Of course, it wasn't to be, and Dennis Conner's "Stars & Stripes 87" was to prove victorious and take the 'auld mug' back home to the USA.

It was, however, the end of an era for the race, with 12 metre yachts making their last appearance.

Aussie jazz group. Galapagos Duck got caught up in the spirit of things...and, with vocals by Sydney signer Barry Leaf, they released this rousing, patriotic anthem in the leadup to the 1987 challenge.
(Although the track, to my ear, is more 'rock' than 'jazz'!)

It was released in Australia on an EMI 45, EMI 1877.
The flipside was an instrumental version of the same song, and more in keeping with The Duck's jazz heritage.
