I’m so glad you did this one. Squire is the reason I started to play the guitar. He used a shell pink original 1960 strat on most of the self titled album.

Holy shit! I didn't expect this one. Love the Roses and you and great job guys! :)

Squire recorded the entire first album on a 60's strat into a hotrodded twin reverbs along with a mesa boogie amp. Pedals he used were a vintage tubescreamer, fuzz face, ibanez chorus, and an alesis midiverb. in 1990, he switched over to a modified fender jaguar with humbuckers, hence the difference sound on the one love single. He has remained loyal to mesa boogie amplifiers.

All that gear and not a capo in John Squire lol. Very well done though!

You should make a sound like Matt and Rabea, with your favourite gear and such. I would really enjoy that. Love your videos by the way, keep it going.

Watched this video today to see how to get JS's sound and was extremely pleased to see you picked a squier CV (same model and colour) that I'm due to buy used on Saturday!!

Excellent job, and it was great to hear the bass included as well. I'm a big Bruce Foxton fan, so how about the Jam please?

this just goes to show how mediocre “traditional rock guitarists” struggle with playing lots of indie/alternative music. With guitarists like john squire, johnny marr, graham coxon, etc they strip away alot of the heavy fuzz and overdrive and play using feel, creativity, restraint, and ingenuity. they have complete intuitive knowledge of tones. they make it sound simple and easy until you try and play it just like them and realize how difficult it really is.

Oh Yes!!! the Stone Roses...nothing from Second Coming though! I am now going home tonight to (re)learn some classic Stone Roses songs.

Last summer at my local guitar store I picked up a light bubblegum pink Squier Strat with a Humbucker on the bridge where the slanted pickup would have been. Looked so unique I just had to buy it. It plays beautifully. My 19 year old son told me to never get rid of it.

Cant believe how great Rabea sounded with the classic vibe and hotrod amp combo alone.

Saw the Stone Roses in Leeds a few years ago and he was still a Mesa Boogie Lonestar man.
Seemed to favour a black les paul custom and a strat with a rosewood fretboard for the most of the show. Have seen him in a video use a tele into the Lonestar in a rehearel for the Heaton Park gig though. Sound bang on the money with " she bangs the drums "
