My husband's papa survived just long enough to meet my daughter. He should've passed before I even knew I was pregnant. It was beautiful. He passed so peacefully.

My dad did that. He had 6 weeks left in April but lasted until October so that he could see his third daughter give birth. After raising 4 daughters and having 7 grandchildren, this was his first time in a delivery room. He said it was a thrill to be there. He passed away 5 weeks later

Both of my grandfathers had a goal, soon after that time they passed away. One pushed through a month for his granddaughters’ weddings, he got to dance at both! Thank you Blessed Mother

I live overseas. When my step-dad was in hospice with pancreatic cancer, he told my brother in law ‘well, I’ll probably stick around until Saturday or Sunday (I was arriving home on the Friday night). I was able to visit me on the Saturday, and he was awake, alert, and fully himself, and he passed on the Sunday. He waited for me. I miss him.

This is a truth for cancer patients, give them a reason to make it! The birth, graduation, wedding, whatever excites them to continue they will survive! Keep moving those goal posts & positive reinforcements! ❤

No matter what a Dr says, many times a person's willpower keeps them alive no matter what while they wait for an event or a person to arrive. God bless you & your work.

My grandma was diagnosed with leukemia and was told she only had a month to live. She was able to fight to the 9 month mark. This was so beautiful

My friend's dad passed away while holding his not-even-an-hour-old newborn. He'd been in the ICU for three weeks after having a heart attack while driving (and thus crashing the car pretty badly), and was released to hospice for half a year at that point, having been expected to only survive for a month or so at most (IDR what the specific reason was). When his wife went into labor she requested to be driven to the hospital connected to his hospice care facility, so that he could be with her. She later said the only thing keeping him alive was the wish to see his baby before he died, and God wanting to fulfil that wish.

My best friend passed when his wife was five months pregnant. He fought so hard, but his body just couldn't do it. His beautiful daughter was born the day before their wedding anniversary. She's four now, and there's so much of her daddy in her. I wish he could have met his daughter, but there are so many people who loved him and love her now

Ex girlfriends mother was a nurse for cancer patients that were “not doing the best” but the way she handled life and loss was always crazy to me she was one strong woman, I’m thankful to have been a part of their lives

My grandpa survived just long enough to hear his first great grandchild say papaw. It was just weeks after she turned 1 and when we were all in the room to say good bye she told him, "Love you Papaw" He died less than 2 hours later in his sleep.

The human ability to look death in the eye and say not yet not until i see my loved ones will never cease to amaze me. 😢 my mother's worked in hospice for 13 years and she always told me that few if any of her patients would die around the holidays because they felt they owed it to their families to give them one last holiday with them. Keep doing what your doing you are a saint

My grandma had cancer around the year I was born. I never got told how bad it actually was. What I was told however, was that she always wanted to see me (her first grandchild) and lived with that goal at mind. In the end she ended up beating cancer, to this day my family says it's because she was so happy to be a grandma.

My grandma was incredibly lucky, other don't get that privilege. It's awful to know that in moments like these, you really want to stay but your body won't allow it.

My grandma had cancer while my mom was pregnant with me. As my grandma got worse she said over and over how she at least wanted to meet me. She passed away 8 days after I was born. She was to weak and couldn’t hold me for more then a minute. Everyone who knew her says I am just like her. I think she lasted those extra 8 days to teach me all she could. I didn’t know her but I am so happy to know I am like her and get to be even a little like the amazing person I know she was.

Can barely string words together to express how much this video has me crying since this was unfortunately my parents' situation when i was born. Glad I got to meet you, dad. Wish I'd been able to get to know you.
