I am an aesthetic registered nurse that performs laser hair removal - I’m always recommending to my guests to dermaplane their facial hair. It’s a great way to exfoliate and helps your makeup look incredible! ❤️

But
1. Aren't you acne prone?
2. Aren't you supposed to do it using a gel or oil? To make it glide better and irritate less?

My skin got heaps better after I started dermaplaning. I use the Tweezerman face razor (stainless steel with replacement blades ✨) and I clean my face with a generous amount of castor oil before shaving.

Are there alternatives if you are acne-prone? 😊

Every time I used the verse or any other ones my face looks good that day but then my skin get little bumps (not acne) and then my skin looks and feel awful! I’m now doing it where I don’t straight down to my skin and basically just trim the peach fuzz. Any suggestions? I don’t use any oil or gel just plain dry skin when I first tried this and got the lil bumps!

As an esthetician i'm really disappointed to see her promoting this...😮‍💨 First of all, dermaplaning is not supposed to be for shaving. Dermaplaning is primarily a physical exfoliation of the skin with the added benefit of removing vellus hair. It also helps with product penetration. But because this EXFOLIATION physically removes the dead skin from the epidermis it is incredibly important that you are doing this only when you have a good, healthy barrier. Not for those with acne, rosacea, eczema, or those already struggling with dry, itchy skin. After care is important too. If your skin isn't ideal for this and if you don't do proper after care you can really cause skin problems. I have also had several clients who did this and ended up with cuts/nicks all over their face. People should really just invest in a professional service for this....

I want to try this so bad, but I'm so afraid I'm going to break out even though I don't really have breakouts anymore. Also, where do you stop? Just the face? Neck too? I'm worried about stopping at just my face and it looking weird compared to neck, etc.

I shave once in a while but I've never done it on dry skin.

I would have to apply soap before shaving otherwise my skin will be inflamed for the rest of the month. That applies to my face and body. I really hate the fact that I have such a sensitive skin! I cannot even use the heimish balm that you always recommend. Though I just bought it but it irritates my skin so bad. Should I keep on using it until my skin can tolerate it. I really love it 🥲💔

Tbh I’m scared of it growing back thicker/darker as well as upkeep.
