Hi friends! I get a little philosophical in this one, and talk about failure. In every failure there is a positive, and I share with you my success from failing to cross the entire Cliff Walk in Grindelwald, Switzerland. I hope you enjoy!

There is that fine line between a total fear of heights and having a healthy respect for your own safety. At least you tried which is still more than some people have done. This is not a failure. Sometimes, overcoming your fears is one small step at a time, this was one small step which is progress, NOT failure.

Hello Nate, I don't think it's a failure. You can be proud to face your fear.
Most people won't do that.
Awesome pictures from the mountains!

You wouldn't get me near that thing. I'm mid 50 and I do know this place just to well. I am happy that I took the roads with not to much panik. A friend of mine couldn't do it either but once I saw him in his firebrigade stuff runnig in a burning complex and flying out of it several feet . He got up and ran in again. I climed into deep caves, but outside in the sun I panik. You are not alone with that problem. Strangely I have no problems in airplanes or even helicopters. Great video and thanks for telling the tale.👍

Hi Nate! Failure is just a word for not reaching an "final" aim. But when you look back in time, first the shopping cart, then the horse and many little steps farther. This time walking IN the cliff! And that wasn't just one horse high! So to me it is another border extension. In my opinion, and with your fear in mind, you didn't failed because you started. You fought the fear! And you made it through the most complicate part of the cliff walk. When reaching the spot where the wind was coming up, that changed the conditions. When you stood at the beginning you decided to start walking with no strong wind. That walk was definitely a win.
Man I'm jealous! Such a beautiful place.

Phobias are nothing to be ashamed or looked as failure... i couldn't walk there too, also can't see any spiders... those feeling are so deep in us... but i guess there are a lot of other things there in grindelwald and close to see...

I totally agree with you. I had never problems with highst till 2019 when we had holidays in Alaska and drove the Hatcher pass with an RV, gravel road and no guard rails. When we reached the top, i couldn`t drive further, i stopped, get off the car and my wife had to drive they way down the other side. But that`s ok, i think it`s cause i`m getting old ( 65 now ). Stay healthy and greetings from Hamburg. It was the same holiday i fed the fish for the first time, when we were on a boat trip . 🤮😁

Some things we just don't have to do when we get older. I climbed all over when I was younger, I jumped over rocks, walked on cliffs etc. Not any more. It's called being sensibel. Self preservation kicks in, for a reason. It's totally natural. And doesn't stop you from being a GREAT guy!!!!

Ffs, I just stumbled over an uneven pavement a few months ago, fell, and didn't notice until a week or so later I'd broken two ribs. It happens. There's a reason most sane older people don't take as many risks as younger ones do.

Each failure has a lesson in it. Besides obstacles are an amazing thing, it helps ppl to evolve and rise up. Imagine a kid that just learn how to walk. You fall down, but out of that failure you take a lesson with you. The lesson is how NOT to do it the next time. 😉

I am petrified of hights to and I'm a person who would not tempt fate. So if I'm scared of doing something I won't do it. That doesn't make me or anyone else a failure. from UK 🇬🇧👍👍

Good topic, I wouldn’t made it half the way you did, can totally relate. While at the same time driving around the Nürburgring at 150 mph+ … we are a crazy species 😎! Best wishes from Germany 👍

Don't feel stupid! You at least tried it and actually walked some distance. That puts you on top of many other people.

Right, the first thing to ask: How many steps, second: distance up and down. Then I probably would say, really? You want me dead?

One thing to explain, I fear heights, and I used to fly gliders. It is not the height above ground, it is the connection to the ground.
Oh, the fun part of flying a glider is the training you need to do to get yourself out of trouble. That meant for me three parachute jumps. Those were kinda scary...

you wouldn't be human if you never failed, failing is part of success. or so I was teached as a kid. I never had fear of heights but diving deep I cannot do

Nate ha ve seen any videos from Asia, were the walkways are made of clear perspex which has a screen in it, as a prank the workers can make it look like it's cracking and the people crossing think it's real.

Your not an Failure, Buddy. you did go for it, more as many would do, and found your Borders, what is an very very precious Price. Fail looks and feel different;)

For me, that's nothing either! That would be clearly too high and too narrow for me. But now to the important things. Your workshop is tidy !!! WOW. Do you have at least someone who sorts everything completely wrong? 😄

You faced your phobia and tried it, that’s not failure. I wouldn’t have tried that with that wind.

Overcoming a fear is not an event its a series of steps. As a kid of was nervous of dogs, as an adult i have owned dogs now for years and have 0 fear of any dog at this point. Fact is if you kept putting yourself in the situation where you were a little uncomfortable with the elevation you would over time rationalise that you are not actually in any real danger. Being nervous of falling 1000 feet is rational, but then knowing that structure is designed to hold tonnes of weight would become obvious if you walked on it and similar structures over time. I was somewhat nervous of heights but did rock climbing and abseiling, i just rationalised that the rope and bolts could hold 1 tonne so where is the actual danger
