the only time a malfunction saved lives

I'm an aviation writer and have flown in tactical jets fairly often for a civilian. Every time I've gone up in a jet with ejection seats I've received E&E training that lasted, in some cases, almost a day. And had to do it even if I was familiar with a certain type of seat. This French incident makes me wonder what kind of training this man got.

The pilot: The fuck just happened? Am i that bad at flying?

The pilot must have crapped his pants in the knowledge that his malfunctioning ejection seat might decide at any moment to eject after all.

And that’s why you never surprise anyone with a gift. Nothing good comes from that

Fun fact: in world war 2 there was a tiger 1 that destroyed over 50 soviet tanks in one battle before running out of ammo

Long ago, when the RAF was introducing the Phantom fighter into service, they decided to give a member of their Parliament a ride on one. As part of the needed preparation, he was instructed in the procedure involving the ejection seat. More or less the following conversation took place:

MP: And what happens if the ejection mechanism does not work?
RAF officer: Then, there will be an election in your district.

From a french perspective this accident as made a lot of noise, the passenger was in fact clear to take of by a doctor the morning before the incident and as been briefed, he as a sudden panic attack and start doing shit (that's the conclusion of the BEA investigation I promise). And to put it in perspective it was during an airshow that why he was allowed to take place in the jet.

In the last picture of the video a jet with a canopy is landing instead of a missing canopy. Good job!

Probably shouldn’t insult the Rafale by showing a picture of an L 39.

So the before the main pilot ejected, he set his jet into auto-pilot so that the jet can land itself. 👏

Well that answers why i cant get a joy ride on an F-22. Thanks for that

Thats actually a good outcome, since if it did not happen and there was a failure that could lead to the destruction of the jet, the pilot wouldn't be able to eject

Somewhere there's an ejection seat mechanic making little rocks out of big rocks in a stockade...

His co-workers really got their money’s worth, and the recipient got a really great surprise. 🎉

I'm no pilot, but even if a civilian was allowed onto a fighter jet, there are safety protocols and he would've been strapped into the seat with no where to go. BS on this story.
