it still blows me away that only 118 years after the first powered flight, we've accomplished powered flight on another planet

How most people would react to this drone correcting itself mid flight:
"Wow that's amazing! The Nasa engineers should be proud!"
Nasa Engineers reading the data:
"Darn! It missed a picture and screwed up its algorithm. I'll spend a few weeks worth of work rewriting it and taking extra precautions to make it better."

Anton: you have given a perfect explanation of the incident to a science-curious but ignorant person. Thanks,

I'm surprised they sent solar panels to Mars without having a plan to keep them clean in the first place...

I'm surprised that no one's developed some sort of cleaning module that the rovers robotic arm can use to give its panels a clean now and again, It's not as if we didn't know about the dust problem from previous rover missions...

I think an interesting thought to ponder about would be: If ingenuity topples over, for how long will it lie in that position? Until someone picks it up in 200 years? Until that surface area gets scorched by a giant impact? Until the growing sun puts Mars into the habitable zone and a large creature steps on it that evolved from the earth bacteria we accidentally put there? XD
Until ...the end of the Universe? :/

sand-blasting is a time-honoured way of cleaning

The rover arm needs an Eagle Feather to dust off the solar panels

Hello wonderful Anton!!! I hope you are well, think I'm falling into mania lately but your videos help me feel grounded. Been binging them again lately

And to everyone reading, go get a glass of water and something to eat<3 even when it's hard you are worth the effort

I think the IMU is Inertial Measurement Unit. Bssicly a combination of accelerometers and gyro's.

It amazes me that they still have problems with dust - the things that has eventually killed every other mission. Have they really not come up with low energy wipers yet?

Scratching my head how people can comment how wonderful this 12 min video is after it's only been up for 1 min .... hmmm

Anton is amazing. He has all this information and it only happened like a minute ago.

Progress... in his lifetime my great grandfather went from the horse and cart to a man on the moon. What will we see?

i thought 50ks from town was a shit spot to break down/crash, mars is probably worse tbh

The first air craft to fly on another planet, , , I call that a major win. And as it flies we learn and improve on it. This is a big deal no matter how you look at it 👏thx Anton again🖒.. cA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Note to self: figure out a better way to keep the solar panels cleaner. There is obviously a "static cling" problem.

I might describe it as ‘the helicopter was drunk’ — slowed reaction times.

Ingenuity had a panic attack, from severe confusion from a minor glitch. Hal open the pod bay doors. I can't do that Dave. Don't forget to think outside the box.
