I’ve personally always seen looking down occasionally as a sign of respect, at least amongst men.

I do know though that for a large majority of eastern nations, direct eye contact between students and teachers is usually interpreted as both disrespect, as well as a sign of general defiance.

The reason i dont look people in the eyes because i do the never blinking thing. I dont like making people feel unconfortable.
