My most cherished possession is a civil war era quilt made by my gg grandmother in the Tulip appliqué pattern. The original colors were red and green for the flowers and stem. The red has faded to brown. It’s all sewn by hand and when I took it to the Antique roadshow they valued it at $450. I also have a large wall photo of the woman who sewed it. Her family was from Scotland. A couple years ago I met online a descendant of her sister. She also had a scrappy old quilt made by her gg grandmother. When she sent me a photo of it, I recognized the fabric in it right away…my gg grandmother had used the same fabric to sew the binding edge on the quilt I have. Fascinating history surrounding my quilt. Thanks for sharing your Tulip appliqué quilt.

Beth I love this block. I have recently done an applique quit and I made the applique pieces using the same method you did, but I cut the cross into the interfacing BEFORE sewing it to the fabric, that way I dont have to worry about accidently cutting the fabric. But you are such a fearless sewer that Im sure you never have to worry about cutting through!
