My heart is sick and I am in tears. My pastor helped write the original curriculum for the AWANA program. Our club charter number was 105. With charter numbers starting with 101 from Northside Gospel Center in Chicago which was Lance Latham church (whom took my pastor under his wing many years ago). I have firm foundational teaching because of my pastor. I've watched the watering down of the AWANA program over the years, but this is beyond heartbreaking for me.

Andy's teaching is very reminiscent of my pastor's teaching. Expository and doctrinally sound. I was so blessed when the Lord led me to his channel.

My father and his brother Richard were in the Awana clubs before it was call Awana over 50 years ago. It was called Boys Brigade. Richard was the first boy to memories all the boys. I became a Christian in Awana. My sons went through Awana. I pray for Awana!!!

So the enemy has infiltrated AWANA now, at the the top. 30 years ago, as a new believer, I helped out with a wonderful AWANA group. Kids were being saved, then bringing their parents to church. Some entire families were coming to Christ. We held AWANA on Wed nights, because that's when many of the parents went bowling and could just drop off their kids nearby, at our church, during the AWANA program meetings. It was the perfect opportunity.

I truly appreciate men of God who point to any deception that may cause a new believer to fall away from the real Truth.
I didn't hear anything about these people speaking of Jesus or The Gospel. I really don't see how they ever really knew or followed Jesus in the first place.. and Jesus warned his sheep about deception in the last days

Having been a Director for the Awana club for many, many years; raising my children in this group; and now having my 25y.o. son as a leader in Awana - I'm absolutely astonished that Awana will "bend" with the times. The Bible doesn't "bend" with the times! The Roman guards of the Bible are not now U.S. Marshall's hanging out at a strip club!
"The Chosen" series has taken the Bible and made the language easier to understand. It's still the Bible. It's still of the times without sprinkler systems and swimming pools.
If we had wanted to teach filth, we have Sodom and Gomorrah! Awana is designed to "put God's word in heart. (We will) serve him right from the start. From His love we never will part." (Yes, I led Sparks.) "Sparks to light the world!" "We are NOT ashamed of the Gospel of Christ."
"Go ye into all the world..:
"DO not be CONFORMED to the ways of this world."
My favorite line, so far, from The Chosen is, "Get used to different."

Jesus has already warned us that there will be many that will fall away from the faith. This is also to be expected within the church and is explained in the parable of the wheat and the tares.
