As a Greek I am deeply offended, Cleopatra was Macedonian descendant from the family of Ptolemeus which was the ruling dynasty between the Hellenistic and Roman era. She wasn't an Arab, because at that time there wasn't exactly the Arab identity formed yet, but she certainly had Mediterranean features, maybe not as white skin as the northern Europeans, maybe curly hair but certainly not she wasn;t black.

Not only that, but the entire cast - characters that are supposed to be egyptians - are black people. And they highlight the fact that Cleopatra was black. A woman in the trailer says that her grandmother told her, "I don't care what they tell you in school, but Cleopatra was black." Like, I'm sorry? How is this a DOCUMENTARY? And then the actress playing Cleopatra tells us that maybe we should listen to the opinions of experts who might know more than us? What kind of experts are these that are trying to change historical facts? What about all the other legitimate experts that say otherwise? Cleopatra was greek. We are not black. It's as simple as that. There is evidence supporting this. It is not a matter of a lack of research, they are trying to steal our heritage and our history by purposely choosing to falsify facts. They are trying to steal our identity as a people. It is insulting and beyond infuriating.

I am Nigerian and I agree with you that Cleopatra was not black! It mainly racist woke westerners who push this lie. Her ancestors, the Ptolemaic dynasty, were Greek and they also practiced incest! No ways she was black. Same for most ancient Egyptians. The only time black Pharoahs ever existed was when Nubia (Sudan) conquered Egypt for a short time.

As an Egyptian, again, our present day language and religion does not in any way constitute our ethnic origin. Only a few of us that you'll see on the streets of lets say Cairo even resemble Western meditteranean phenotypes. You can generalise us as having curly hair, ranging from light to olive brown skin and with every Egyptian having these almost trade mark almond eyes, it is very rare that you meet an Egyptian without those kind of eyes. Lower Egyptians by the Nile delta being more fair skinned due to their long history of intermixing with levant peoples since predynastic times and the Upper Egyptians being more brown due to climate and intermixing with Nubians
