If you also played WoW Classic, why did you quit? Or if you're still playing, what do you enjoy most about it? Let me know!!

I had no idea who you were before this video: But it was a joy to get a glimpse into your life and your experience with a game we both enjoyed. Its very interesting seeing the perspective of a SUPER hardcore, as I am *Aggressively* Casual. Thanks for the video.

Really enjoyed the video. I experienced a similar journey in classic, however quitting just before Wrath. Multiple accounts, multiple characters logged off with full buffs. It was fun, but definitely felt the comment about your raiders trying less hard because "you needed them more than they needed you"

We had a loot council system, which generally kept people trying to parse well because they knew it would affect their loot prior, but I also never really liked being in charge of loot.

I got randomly invited to a guild while lvling and doing a grp quest back in 2019. This guild ended up being rly nice and survived as a semi-hardcore until end of wotlk.
We survived 3 realm changes and 3 gmaster changes, what killed us at end of wotlk was people growing up/gettings kids & quitting.
At the end we were 5 left from the og crew and things did just not feel the same, we were not a close family any longer :(.

I didn't start playing WoW until 2019 classic where I played casually. Skipped TBC and came back for WotLK and decided to play with a hardcore/speed running guild (House of Mantis). I was raiding on 4-5 different toons which was fun but ultimately I ended up burning out raiding that much by TOGC and stopped playing for a while. Just came back to classic era. But honestly it's not as fun playing casually imo compared to min-maxing but thats just me.

This hits a little too close to home. Started Vanilla first day, spend my time on the top of the server rankings through Vanilla, TBC and Wrath and called it quits there.
Only thing I didn't do was lead the guild or level 40 alts because what the fuck.
Honestly all the reasons you mentioned applied to me as well. At the end, the guild disbanded as the GM was too busy with reallife and nobody wanted to pick up the reigns.

question: so i know you said you wouldnt return
but, would you do it over again?
if you could rewind time to when classic launched. would you do it again?

I started playing classic toward the end of vanilla classic. I quit at the end of wotlk because the community just felt shittier and also because I was never able to find a guild to raid with that worked with my schedule. I still remember playing classic for the first time, someone was handing out bags for free in goldshire, the community was friendly and active. The first guild I joined was awesome, but unfortunately the GM quit and the guild died, and I just wasn't able to find that sense of community afterwards.

I quit classic after reaching 60, because i remembered how bad it actually is compared to retail. So much QoL that is missing and just makes the games so much more enjoyable on all levels, but mainly that everything is viable to play. Youre not forced into certain specs/classes to fulfill certain roles. Came back after Ulduar in wotlk and did TOTGC, even did some officer work that was underappreciated in a guild so i just quit before killing LK as I just cba to do work yet get sidelined all the time when it came to raiding. Tried a final time with a friends guild that were super hardcore that almost got 12/12 hc before LK buff came out, but they called it quits when that came out and all my interest died out.
Was hyped for cataclysm at the start, then again remembered how bad it still is to do raidleading or raiding if you dont have a dedicated team or friends. so just insta quit again.

But I have played wow since vanilla and wotlk on private servers so I've already experienced my fair share of raiding and content. Nostalgia really makes you see things through rose tinted glasses.

Hope the classic community will understand that retail is so much better and that dragonflight was a fresh start. But then again, blizz has to keep it up.

Great video once again!
I am the exact same way- only enjoying games when I try as hard as possible, with very very little exception. Super awesome to hear it explained so neatly!
I played Classic a bit on Deviate Delight when it launched. I did the whole power leveling no sleep for a couple days thing, (but I was Mage so yk, ) and got to raiding.
Went into MC with a Guild, looked up my rotation for the first boss, and literally quite right after we killed it because that shit could not have been more boring and I really didn't wanna level again.
Just never really felt like going back after that

I quit in ulduar because it felt like too much of a job. We were a decent guild doing most hard modes and progging on Algalon but I just remember coming home on tuesdays and thursdays with a 2 hour buffer between end of work and raid night and just dreading having to tie up my whole night on raiding. It got to the point where I was silently resenting me entire guild because I just didn't want to do it anymore.

Managing/running 10 raids is a big way to burn yourself out. xd
I didn't quit Classic because I'm a more retail type of player so I've only really started classic since wotlk and the fun for me started with Ulduar hard modes, I also play mythic raiding on retail.
Personally I enjoy the lockout system because I don't want to have to raid multiple times a week to keep up with other people.
I think banning gdkps would have helped lessen that burden that some people feel to run multiple raids so they can further their main.
I love seeing the pov of people that are more vanilla type of players because that's so foreign to me.

One does not simply quit classic. But just make a break.

Bro, I literally just got your M+ title achievement video randomnly linked. Everything you hit on in this video is spot on, and in Cataclysm it got even worse. So decided to level four characters for TWW and hop back on the M+ raid and Mythic raiding train. Honestly the Classic community is very weird, since there is no 'real' way to filter tryhards and casual players, a lot of the time you will be in a mixed enviroment, which ultimately will really mess up your fun in the game (that at least what I experienced with raiding). Cool videos, will definitely keep checking you out further along in TWW etc.

sounds like you were doing most of the 'admin' work in the guild, this is why having a good officer core is so important as its so easy to burn out if your doing literally everything to keep the guild running.
