The GOP will act very differently when in full counsel during an actual hearing. This happens during a time when an overworked party, fed up with the antics of it's leader(s) will initiate change but without making it look like a surrender or waving a white flag...
Rather, a small or silent majority will vote their true conscience without facing anyone's wrath after the fact.
Though, from any other perspective statements aren't made to incite action but to let us know that as dramatically as the Republican Party has defended Trump they'll react, respond and argue differently during an actual hearing and most importantly during a Trial.
I find it interesting that the weight of perjury is maximized by the sense that a lie won't work well when liars quit supporting it. As if that isn't fun to see fall away in attitudes and responses under sworn testimony, it's even more fun to watch rats jumping away to save their own lives because they know what's coming. The weaker ones will leave the Orange Man days before a hearing with excuses like
"I need time away to be with Family"
Or
"I need to step away from this argument for a while"

You see kids, if this accusation levelled by Officials in the Employ of the Federal Government cannot be resolved by the Senate (lots of accusations btw)
Then it will go to trial. In such a forum even the dirtiest and resilient liars
