We loved having this cast and crew in central Iowa during the summer of 1995!! My farm is 10 miles from the final scene's farm house.

was a shame this film didn't win awards for special effects.. after 28 years i think its effects hold up better than Independence day.

Having recently re-watched this, all the actors are great, but I think Jami Gertz had the hardest job. She had to make Melissa the obvious "wrong" choice for Bill, but by the time she leaves she's very sympathetic and totally valid in her opinions!

A Very interesting documentary on the movie Twister. It takes a lot for a movie to become a classic where people want to watch it over and over again. I had just watched Twister a few days before when a friend from Germany came to stay with us. I asked him if he had seen it, and he hadn’t, so I watched it again with him…he loved it! It isn’t just an exciting (albeit unbelievable) film. It has a lot of heart (think Gene Hackman’s line in the Replacements). The cast is exceptional, top to bottom, some who went on to have stellar careers. The music perfectly sets the tone and the story is specifically American as twisters don’t happen as frequently in other parts of the world. It also did for meteorology what Top Gun did for the Navy. It inspired a whole group of people to go into the field, and yes, some become storm chasers. I have a relative who gave meteorological advice to the team while they were making the film. They chuckle at the unbelievable quality of the film, but they are impressed with its longevity and how loved the film has become.

This classic has aged well for 28 years old. This film is the one I grew up with back in 96' and I still own my old VHS, original 96' film cd, and an expanded edition (1 / 3000 cd's) soundtrack to this day. I ultimately became a full blown storm chaser and trained spotter for the NWS 3 years ago after so long and now working on a degree... full circle. This film is one I will partially blame for getting my interest started in severe weather. To this day I have been listening and now chasing to Twister 96' soundtrack and it never gets old.
Seeing the sequel in person brought me back those memories of the original: btw I thought it lived up to that original. Whoever did the CGI had me real impressed, tornadoes looked real and acted like it close enough to convince me as a spotter they were if I hadn't been aware they were CGI. Thank-you Warner Bro's for sharing this. Rest in peace Bill Paxton, Philip Seymour, and Van Halen.
