I've seen them in concert, the INSANELY loud twin reverbs greatly enhance the effect. Feels like a blast wave hitting you when they go into the noise parts.

It's actually just the distortion (ProCo Rat) and then a chain of reverb (Boss RV-2 RV-3 RV-5). The harmonics and overtones produced with the 3 reverbs in a row make that insane noise.
