Trouble with this live version is, Dylan left out my fav verse.

She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe
"I thought you'd never say hello, " she said
"You look like the silent type"
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burning coal
Pouring off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you
Tangled up in blue

You never know what you will get with a live Dylan performance. He constantly changes the music to suit his mood. And some of the lyrics also change.

“Art or die” Love it. Dylan is in a class by himself.

The entire "Blood on the Tracks" album is a masterpiece. You should give it a listen from start to finish.

A Dylan classic indeed. What made this man great was the way he could paint a picture with words. I’ve never been on a fishing boat outside Delacroix but I can picture it. Dylan’s music was a running commentary on the culture going on at the time. You wanna know what was going on in a particular decade, pick up a Dylan record.

Bob Dylan is a national treasure. His ability to paint a picture with his words is unmatched. It's why he (a poet and musician), won the Nobel prize in literature, not to mention he has 10 Grammy Awards, an Oscar, and an Academy Award to his credit. What impresses me most is his ability to play guitar & harmonica, two different melodies...simultaneously. It really blows my mind. 🤔

' art or die ' is the best description of Dylan I ever heard

Best first stop is the album version IMHO. He does humour and intensity equally well.

Oh yeah Lex, you always got it, he's beyond art, and sometimes scary, because he's real.

It's great to hear how he varies his songs in every performance. But I still like his original album version of this one (Blood on the Tracks) the best

Bob Dylan is a lyrical genius that writes song's that are stories about different characters different situations and different time's. He's alway's been
Bob Dylan and doesn't put on costumes when he performs.
His song's have been performed by so many different artist.
Even some rappers are amazed by how his lyrical cadence and structure is formed.

Saw him live during this time. Forever grateful my friend dragged me there.

In my view, this is the greatest song ever written. I like the way he plays with time, the story is moving. It's simple musically, just what it needs to be. The blue that he's referring to is Joni Mitchell's album named Blue. There's a reference to Petrarch as the poet from the "13th century" even though Petrarch was from the 14th century. "We always did feel the same, we just saw it from a different point of view" really just breaks down humanity to it's core. We all essentially want the same things, we just have different ideas about how to get there.

Dylan has influenced so many genres. It's like he's Father Abraham. More please. Like A Rolling Stone

He made a HUGE impact in music! Over 600 musicians who have released their own recordings of songs written by Dylan. It includes more than 1, 500 covers of nearly 300 unique songs.
