Going to try this on my Oliver OC-3 with a Hercules flat four. One valve is stuck and broken off. Need to get the spring off.

I guess this is one reason why automobile engines went to overhead valves. What a big pain!

How about a demonstration on how to reinstall the retainer clips. The wedge ones i think i got down but those small crescent retainers are what im fighting with.

I tried that way on my 6cyl flattie turns out it has mushroom stem valves so couldnt pull out top 😢

I dont doubt his method, but it requires care and skill not to damage your valve. This is why the valve c clamp type tools were invented.
