Good stuff Karl, a primer is a must on MDF. Even in the workshop I use one.

First time on the channel, I liked and subscribed, about to build some false columns out of mdf searching on painting and this answered my questions. You through me for a loop when halfway in the video the long sleeve and beanie disappears and a bald tattooed guy showed up! Had to toggle back and forth make sure it was same guy lol. Great info thanks much for your time!

Bit late to the party on this one, that's a really nice colour that you have painted that unit, looks great in place from the Instagram pictures I saw 👍

The key take away here seems to be "good quality" and I have to agree. Probably the most important bit in my opinion is the MR MDF, it seems to make a huge difference.

Where are the products that you used in your video description? So?

I have always found painting the MDF edges requires at least 6 light coats of paint consisting of primer, undercoat and the final paint finish. I have even tried MDF sealer before painting the edges, which being water based has caused the edges to swell. I think in future, as you have suggested I will use MR MDF. Is MR MDF much more expensive than just normal MDF? Don’t think I have seen MR MDF in B&Q where I normally by 8x4fft sheets. I really enjoy your content as you keep it pretty simple, and the end result is to a high standard, without the need for really expensive equipment.

Great tips Karl, how about spray paint that’s acrylic?, would possibly be quicker perhaps however you made this piece of furniture shine 🍺👍👍👍

I am painting a larger sheving unit made of MDF. I've got a acrylic sealing primer and acrylic paint but am planning to use a paint sprayer. If I need to thin out the primer or paint, I guess I would avoid water and use a paint thinner?

Great video Karl! I have done a lot of MDF projects myself (other than trim work with pre-primed MDF) but I am glad to know these tricks! Thanks!
